Druid Class Mechanic – Spirit Boons
Druids unlock powerful Spirit Boon passives, giving offerings to the animal spirits to receive their Blessing. Once fully unlocked, activate the final Boon by Spirit Bonding with one of the four animal spirits to take two passives from that row.
Boon Name | Animal | Effect |
---|---|---|
Wariness | Deer | Take 15% reduced damage from Elites. |
Swooping Attacks | Eagle | Gain 20% Attack Speed. |
Avian Wrath | Eagle | Gain 40% Critical Strike Damage. |
Pack Leader | Wolf | Lucky Hit: Critical Strikes have up to a 30% chance to reset the Cooldowns of your Companion Skills. |
Obsidian Slam | Snake | Every 6th attack cast will cause your next Earth Skill to Overpower. |
While leveling and gearing, use the Deer’s Gift of the Stag and the Wolf’s Energize for spirit management, replacing Wariness and Swooping Attacks.
Druid’s primary resource is Spirit. See the Spirit Management Section on how to keep casting!
Gear, Stats, Gems, and Runes
Check these sections for all important Landslide gearing considerations to improve the power of your character in the endgame.
Legendary Aspects
Gear Slots with multiple options are listed in recommended priority. Any slot with a Mythic Unique or Unique Item will include a valid alternative legendary power to use while still leveling and gearing. Combine these with the right stat priorities.
Gear Slot | Gems | Aspect / Unique | Legendary Aspect / Unique Power |
---|---|---|---|
Staff | ![]() ![]() | ![]() | Landslide’s earth pillars each strike a second time and deal an additional 5.5-15.5% bonus damage per hit. |
Helm | ![]() ![]() | ![]() ![]() | Your Earth Skills are now also Werebear Skills and Fortify you for 2-5% of your Maximum Health. |
Chest | ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you haven’t dealt damage in the last 2 seconds, gain Stealth and 40% Movement Speed. |
Gloves | N/A | ![]() | Poison Creeper’s active also casts Landslide in a circle around you. Earth Skills deal 15-35% increased damage to Poisoned enemies. |
Pants | ![]() | ![]() | When you use a Shapeshifting Skill that changes your form, Heal for 5-25% of your Maximum Life. If you are at full Life, gain the same amount as Fortify. |
Boots | N/A | ![]() ![]() | Shapeshifting into a new animal form increases the value of your Bestial Rampage bonuses by 2-5%, up to 20-50%. This bonus decays by 2% per second. |
Amulet | ![]() | ![]() | Your Core Skills deal up to 35-75% increased damage based on your amount of Fortify. |
Ring | ![]() | ![]() ![]() | Casts of Landslide leave behind Tectonic Spikes that deal Physical damage over 2 seconds. Spawning a Landslide pillar within Tectonic Spikes has a 20-30% chance to spawn two instead. |
Ring | ![]() | ![]() ![]() | Spending your Primary Resource reduces the Resource cost of your Skills and increases your damage by 10% for 3 seconds, up to 50%. |
Staff is chosen for its attack speed. The damage over time inherent on staff will not be much value, but most weapon inherent affixes are low value additives. If another 2 handed weapon type has better gear affixes rolled on it, use that instead.

Stat Priority and Tempering Affixes
Each line of affixes is listed in order of importance, and some alternatives are given. The bolded affixes are the most important targets for Masterworking upgrades. Unique Items cannot be Tempered, but can be Masterworked. Check the Tempering guide and Masterworking guide for more details about these topics.

Armor cap is 1000 for up to 85% Physical Damage Reduction. This is generally reached with either one Armor Gear Affix and one Total Armor% Temper, a well-rolled Vasily’s Prayer, or using a
Juggernaut’s Aspect.
After gearing, look at progression systems like Paragon next.
Uniques and Mythic Uniques
The following Unique Items are required, recommended, or optionally beneficial for the Landslide Druid
- (Required)
Vasily’s Prayer is a strong source of Fortify, and makes
Landslide a Werebear skill. This enables maintenance of several strong multipliers like
Quickshift and
Survival Instincts.
- (Recommended)
Insatiable Fury is a well rounded unique with good defensive value, that gives ranks in Werebear Skills, which thanks to
Vasily’s Prayer includes
Landslide.
- (Required)
Earthbreaker has incredible Gear Affixes for Landslide, and causes Casts of Landslide to leave behind Tectonic Spikes, which can cause subsequent Landslides to trigger extra pillars.
- (Recommended)
Hunter’s Zenith has strong gear affixes and can empower casts to Overpower and Critically Strike.
- Optional Pants can include the following:
- (Resistances)
Tassets of the Dawning Sky can be useful for early gearing to get more Resistances
- (Spirit)
Tibault’s Will are decent for helping manage Spirit. Sources of Unstoppable are
Enhanced Earthen Bulwark and if used,
Aspect of Metamorphosis.
- (Resistances)
Mythic Unique Items
The Landslide Druid can benefit from the following Mythic Unique Items:
Ring of Starless Skies is a powerful Resource Cost Reduction tool and damage multiplier.
Shroud of False Death gives +1 to all Skill Passives. This includes strong additions to Damage multipliers, Damage Reductions, Fortify Generation, Quality of Life increases and more frequent Overpowers.
Check our Unique Item Target-farming guide for information on where to find everything you need.
Gems and Runewords
The following are the recommended Gem and Runeword setups for the Landslide Druid:
Gems
Weapon Gems | Armor Gems | Jewelry Gems |
---|---|---|
![]() For Increased Critical Strike Damage | ![]() For increased Willpower | ![]() For All Resistances |
Runewords
Use these Runeword combinations for the Landslide Druid, placed in the 2 Handed Weapon and into one Armor slot:
Runeword Combination | Effects |
Igni Xan | ![]() ![]() |
Lith Yom | ![]() ![]() |
Runewords use a conditional Rune of Ritual to generate Offering. The Offering is consumed by the Rune of Invocation to trigger its effect. Runes replace Gems in gear with two sockets. Up to two sets of Runeword Pairs can be placed at a time.
Xan will provide a high volume of periodic Critical Overpowers.
Yom will keep enemies stunned and restore Resource.
While leveling and gearing before legendary Runes become accessible, many Magic and Rare runewords such as Gar for Critical Strike Chance will be viable.
Other setups can be used, such as:
Paragon Board
Use these Glyphs, Boards, and pathing for the Landslide Druid:
The road to max Paragon is long. The above Paragon tabs show the following:
- The BASE SETUP tab spends 50 fewer points than the max 328 points, taking stricter pathing to take all most all Legendary, Rare and Magic Nodes, and activates all Glyph Nodes with their secondary effects.
- The FULL SETUP tab completes the paragon board in its final form, filling in the rest of the board to get the rest of the Magic and Rare Nodes, as well as give additional additive bonuses especially within the Glyph areas.
Glyphs have two significant breakpoint increases. At level 15, the glyph grows in radius and gains a special effect. At level 46, the glyph grows to its max radius and gains a strong conditional damage multiplier.
Glyphs are placed as if they are at least level 15+ in radius. Total Boards placed are now limited to a max of 5; the Starter Board and four Class Boards. Rotate boards as necessary.
For a more defensive glyph setup, exchange Tectonic for
Territorial.
Boss Powers (Season 8)
Season 8: Belial’s Return offers Boss Powers, equipped from the Boss Power tab of the character sheet. One Main Power is chosen, and three modifier powers boost the Main Power or offer smaller bonuses.
Here’s a general recommendation for the Landslide Druid:
Main Power
Secondary Modifiers
Many boss power combinations will work and several are only situationally useful. Feel free to adjust powers to your content. For example:
- When Bossing, exchange
Wandering Death’s Chest Beam for
Torusk’s Rage.
- If pushing high enough Pit that you cannot break the
Lilith’s Wind of Hate blister clones, use
Torusk’s Rage
- If you have sufficient Critical Strike Chance without
Hatred’s Embrace’s Haste from high Greater Affix Critical Strike Chance on gear, use
Belial’s Eye Beams.
- For a defensive option, use
Blackmailer’s Sabotage.
Mercenaries
Main Mercenary – Varyana, the Berserker
- Core Skill:
Cleave,
Hysteria,
Bloodthirst,
Bloodlust
Reinforcement – Raheir, the Shieldbearer
Once unlocked, Mercenaries are followers that aid the Player in combat. A main mercenary is chosen to fight alongside you, granting strong buffs or perks, and a secondary Mercenary is chosen to periodically Reinforce you under a chosen Opportunity condition.
Hysteria and Bloodlust will both give strong Attack Speed bonuses. Crater will help group enemies.
Build Mechanics
Rotation and Playstyle
The Landslide Druid has straightforward gameplay.
- Maintain attack speed bonuses and werewolf buffs like
Bestial Rampage with
Blood Howl.
Petrify enemies to refresh Spirit, Stun enemies and to apply Critical Strike Damage debuff.
- Cast your
Landslides:
Poison Creeper spawns
Landslide around you.
- Hard cast
Landslide, dealing damage and to leave
Earthbreaker Tectonic Spikes.
- As needed,
Claw to maintain Shapeshifting bonuses and to fish for Pack Leader resets on
Poison Creeper.
Use Earthen Bulwark as necessary for Barrier and Unstoppable.
Claw and other Skills that change your Form do not need to hit enemies to gain the Shapeshifting benefits. It can often be beneficial to keybind and tap Force Hold to be able to cast in place.
Skills, Support and Synergies
The primary damage for this build is of course Landslide.
Landslide summons pillars of earth that quickly crash together and crush your enemies. We get a high volume of extra Pillars from several sources:
Aspect of The Aftershock doubles the amount of pillars summoned.
- With
Earthbreaker, Casts of
Landslide will leave behind Spikes. When more pillars are placed on those spikes, they have a chance to summon more pillars.
Subterranean Aspect causes
Poison Creeper to summon a circle of pillars around the player, which with
Aspect of The Aftershock will reverse and summon another circle afterwards. These do not count as Cast landslides so do not summon Tectonic Spikes, but can trigger extra pillars if placed on top of existing spikes.
Pack Leader spirit boon has a Lucky Hit Chance when Critically Striking to reset your Poison Creeper. With high Critical Strike and Lucky Hit Chance, this will reset often for for a large amount of your total
Landslide volume.
Because Subterranean Aspect is used, this is a close to melee playstyle despite
Landslide being a ranged cast.
With Primal Landslide, each instance of Immobilize or Stun, or a chance when hitting bosses, adds a Terramote. Terramotes guarantee a Critical Strike with bonus Critical Strike Damage. These immobilizes happen from
Enhanced Landslide, casts of
Poison Creeper, Stuns from
Petrify.
Supporting Skills
Blood Howl offers attack speed bonuses and helps maintain Werewolf and Shapeshifting maintenance buffs like
Bestial Rampage or
Quickshift.
Earthen Bulwark grants Unstoppable and Barrier as needed.
Claw is a spammable filler basic to generate Spirit as needed or maintain Shapeshifting buffs like
Wildheart Hunger or
Hunter’s Zenith. With enough Spirit Generation and Management it is fully unnecessary and could be swapped for other utility skills such as
Innate Debilitating Roar or whatever suits needs of the content.
Petrify Stuns enemies, applies a Critical Strike Damage debuff, and Generates Spirit and Terramotes.
The Key Passive for this build is Bestial Rampage, offering a strong damage buff and attack speed bonus. These are further buffed with stacks from
Wildheart Hunger. The more attack speed, the more Tectonic Spikes and Pillars that can be spawned, and the more damage events there are for your Pack Leader resets for more casts of
Poison Creeper. It’s a tidy feedback loop.
Other Key Passive options can work as well: Ursine Strength can pair with Overpower options like
Hunter’s Zenith to focus the build towards Overpower attacks, or
Earthen Might can be usable in early endgame for a bit more spirit management.
Overpower
Landslide gets several sources of Overpower for even larger damage, scaling based on Willpower, Fortify and Max life. These include
Provocation when staying in Werebear Form
- Obsidian Slam Spirit Boon overpowering every 6th Earth skill.
- A natural 3% for any attack to overpower
- If used,
Hunter’s Zenith.
Landslides generated from Poison Creeper cannot Overpower.
There are enough Overpower bonuses that you can justify using Ursine Strength for your Key Passive for top-end multipliers. In most content this will be slower, but may be beneficial in push content. To play around this, make the following changes:
- Change
Bestial Rampage to
Ursine Strength.
- Do not use
Wildheart Hunger.
- Use
Aspect of the Changeling’s Debt over
Subterranean Aspect for higher total multipliers to your
Landslide.
- Use the
Lith
Xal
Igni
Xan Runeword setup for bigger, more frequent Overpower attacks.
Spirit Management
The Landslide Druid has several layers of Spirit Generation or Cost Reduction:
- Chance to Restore Spirit on the Weapon
- Casts of
Petrify, both hard cast and from Runewords
- Cost Reduction on
Ring of Starless Skies
- Resource Generation% from Gear and Paragon Nodes
- Spirit On Kill from Paragon Nodes.
If these are insufficient sources while leveling and gearing, consider doing one or several of the following for Spirit Generation
- Use Gift of the Stag Spirit Boon, replacing Wariness.
- Use Energize Spirit Boon, replacing Swooping Attacks.
- Use
Tibault’s Will, allowing casts of
Enhanced Earthen Bulwark to restore Spirit.
- Use
Aspect of the Umbral for Spirit when applying Crowd Control. This can be paired with
Aspect of Quicksand to guarantee the Spirit refund.
- Use Runeword setup
Poc
Lum for Spirit Refunds.
- Get Spirit Per Second on Helm, Chest or Boots.
- Remove Points in
Wild Impulses.
- Use
Claw as an attack to build Spirit.
Elixirs, Incense and Health Potions
The Alchemist offers helpful consumables at the cost of foraged materials found throughout Sanctuary.
- Craft the highest available
Elixir of Fortitude for Maximum Life%. Max Life% is significant for Overpower.
- One of each Incense Category can be used, for a total of three active Incenses at a time. In priority:
- Defensive –
Reddamine Buzz for Max Life, or
Song of the Mountain if you need the Armor, up to 1000 armor cap.
- Core Stat –
Blessed Guide for Willpower.
- Resistance –
Soothing Spices for All Resist, All Resist Maximum, and Armor.
- Defensive –
- Upgrade your Potion as you level, increasing the instant healing of the potion!
Season 8 Updates
The changes to Xan mean even more Overpower attacks more frequently, which is a welcome gain for this build, and the Stack Decay reduction to
Wildheart Hunger is welcome for easier management. However, the loss of extra Immobilizes from the
Worldly Fortune and
Constricting Tendrils means far fewer terramotes for our Landslides.
Is the change to Earthen Might sufficient to use? Probably only in very early gearing before you’re managing your Spirit well. The lack of Lucky Hit sources is still a bit rough.
The following list details the important changes in the Season 8 Patch Updates that are specific to the Landslide Druid. For general Season 8 information, check out our Season 8 Hub.

Enhanced Claw displayed its Attack Speed bonus as additive instead of multiplicative.
- Fixed an issue where
Iron Fur would snapshot its bonus when using Insatiable Fury.
- Fixed an issue where the
Mending passive did not function when using Insatiable Fury.
