Vampiric Pacts Guide (Season 2)

Vampiric Pacts are one of the main systems of Diablo 4’s Season 2, the Season of Blood. During this season, players will be able to explore the dark and mysterious world of Sanctuary, with a new enemy emerged: Vampires. Moreover, players will be transformed into vampires themselves, and can unlock special Vampiric Powers. To do so, however, these powers have to be activated through Vampiric Pacts.

In this guide, we will explain how the Vampiric Pacts System works.

What are Vampiric Pacts?

Once the first Vampiric Powers are unlocked, they must be activated through Pacts. Head, Chest, Gloves, Pants, and Boots armor will all possess Vampiric Pacts on them during the Season of Blood. Weapons and Jewelry will not have any Pacts!

There are three different types of Pacts that can roll on an item:

  • Pact of Ferocity
  • Pact of Divinity
  • Pact of Eternity

Each Vampiric Power will need a certain amount and combination of Pacts in order to be activated. To know what type of powers are available, head to our Vampiric Power Guide. The World Tier difficulty, that you play in when the item drops, determines the number of Pacts that can roll on it:

  • World Tiers 1 or 2: 1 to 3 Pacts per item
  • World Tier 3: 1 to 4 Pacts per item
  • World Tier 4: 1 to 5 Pacts per item

In addition, the rarity will also determine how many Pacts can be on an item:

  • Normal item: 1 to 3 Pacts.
  • Sacred item: 1 to 4 Pacts.
  • Ancestral item: 1 to 5 Pacts.

Minor Vampiric Powers will need 1 to 3 Pacts to be activated, while Major Vampiric Powers require 6 Pacts.

It should be noted that it is possible to accumulate Pacts from multiple pieces of gear.
For example, if a Vampiric Power needs 2 Ferocity Pacts and one Divinity Pact to be activated, there is no need to have all 3 Pacts on the same item. If a Helmet has one Ferocity, and the Pants have one Ferocity and one Divinity Pact, it will be possible to activate the Vampiric Power.

How to get Pacts

Acquiring Pacts will not be difficult, as every armor item that drops within the seasonal realm, will have Pacts on it. Only amulets and rings will not have any.

The difficulty that remains, however, will be to find the number and type of Pacts on pieces of gear, that are required in order to activate specific Vampiric Powers.

To remedy this issue, players can collect standalone Pacts: these can be obtained through Blood Harvest events or as normal drop or quest rewards, and can be used in order to upgrade the number of Pacts on an item. For example, if a Helmet from World Tier 1 has only 2 out of 3 Pacts, a standalone Pact can be used in order to get an additional 3rd Pact.

Additionally, Pacts can also be added or removed from items. To do so, an item called Cleansing Acid will be required, which allows the removal of all Pacts from an item. After removing Pacts, another (specific) Pact can then be added to the item.

All Pact items (Seasonal Consumables) can be obtained by slaying Blood Seekers during Blood Harvest events, completing Season Journey tasks or quests, as well as collecting chests, or through crafting at the Alchemist.
