With the arrival of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/belial-returns-in-diablo-iv-season-8-unleash-boss-powers-and-battle-deception-starting-april-29/">Season 8: Belial’s Return</a>, Blizzard is changing how players earn seasonal rewards, tying them more closely to the Season Journey and offering exclusive new bonuses, including a cat pet named Iris.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Progression Through the Season Journey Now Packs More Punch</h2>



As players advance through Season 8’s structured objectives, they’ll now unlock more than in previous seasons, where it was mainly used for boosting your Battle Pass. Chapter rewards from the Season Journey now include Resplendent Sparks, and the ultimate reward: Iris the Cat, the new adorable and also scary companion.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Season Blessings and Smoldering Ashes Move to the Journey</h2>



In a significant change from past seasons, Season Blessings and Smoldering Ashes are no longer tied to the season&#8217;s Battle Pass. Instead, they’re now integrated into the Season Journey, earned by completing objectives and progressing through chapters. This new system aligns player effort directly with gameplay benefits, making the grind feel more rewarding.&nbsp;



Once unlocked, Smoldering Ashes can be used to activate a new set of Season Blessings. These are now connected to the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/choose-your-own-rewards-with-the-diablo-4-battle-pass-rework-how-reliquaries-work/">Reliquaries system</a> introduced in Season 8.

Season Journey System Overhaul in Belial’s Return Brings Ashes, Resplendent Sparks and More Rewards, Including an Eyeful of a Cat

We&#8217;ve seen <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/choose-your-own-rewards-with-the-diablo-4-battle-pass-rework-how-reliquaries-work/">how the new Reliquary system is replacing the battle pass</a>, so now it&#8217;s time to see some of the items coming in the <a href="https://diablo4.blizzard.com/en-us/upcoming">Season 8 Reliquaries</a>! 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Reliquary Refresher</h2>



In case you missed the update, the old way the Battle Pass worked is no more. The Reliquary system replaces it in Season 8, allowing players to choose their own rewards in more ways than one. There&#8217;s four Reliquaries in the season. One free, and three you can individually buy. Each one has a number of cosmetics with a theme, and you can grab any of them at any time by spending Favor Tokens, which you will get by killing monsters and completing quests. There will also be a fifth Reliquary coming in May, with the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-x-berserk-crossover-brings-iconic-armor-behelits-and-more/">Berserk IP collaboration</a>. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Cosmetics</h2>



The free Reliquary brings a Town Portal, a mount and armor combo, 200 Platinum, and three weapon transmogs.

Here Are the Diablo 4 Season 8 Reliquary/Battle Pass Cosmetics!

Blizzard have released a new video going over the main features of the upcoming <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/">Season 8</a>! 



The devs start off with the new Lair Boss rework, with free summons and the new key reward system, including the bonus loot from playing in a group and tradable keys. Not to mention the keys now stack to 99! We also get a look at how boss powers work, with one main and three modifiers. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The New Bosses</h2>



We also get a look at the three new bosses: Belial (obviously), Urivar, and the Harbinger of Hatred. It&#8217;s worth noting that Belial has the highest chance of a Mythic Unique dropping in the game, and he has a special chest where players can choose the loot pool from the other bosses. He also has one guaranteed Ancestral drop on every kill. 



Also, each time you open a chest from one of the lair bosses, the non-Supreme version of Belial can spawn, starting a new fight! He has his own rewards, including a key for his Supreme form, but also drops a duplicate of whatever chest you opened to summon him!

New Season 8 Twitch Drops Coming April 29!

We have some new changes announced in the final patch notes for next week&#8217;s <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/">Season 8</a>! <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/meet-the-lair-bosses-a-new-chapter-for-diablo-4s-endgame-in-season-8/">Lair bosses</a> are getting some big updates, in addition to the whole lair system and summoning rework.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Tools for Old Bosses</h2>



We knew Blizzard was increasing the difficulty of the game and bosses in general. However, they&#8217;re not just turning up the damage and HP on them! There are new fight mechanics to be had and changes to existing ones. So let&#8217;s dive into everything that&#8217;s changing. 



We didn&#8217;t get any specifics for some bosses, as Duriel and Gregoire are getting &#8220;new fight/arena mechanics&#8221;. Beast in the Ice is just getting some minor tweaks to the encounter. We&#8217;ll just have to see what those are on launch! Other bosses, however, did get some details.

The big vampire is getting both stat buffs and mechanic changes. First off, his damage has been &#8220;significantly&#8221; increased. He&#8217;s also getting a warning cone for better visibility and easier avoidance. The blood puddles in the encounter will be fewer in number but larger in size. He will also now summon more Bloodseekers, which also got damage and HP buffs. 



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Varshan</h3>

The Tree of Whispers tenant is also getting enhanced. The monster absorption mechanic is getting changed, as they will no longer buff Varshan when he takes them in. Rather, each monster absorbed will spawn a permanent seeing projectile, so things might get crowded if you don&#8217;t handle them before they&#8217;re eaten or end the fight fast.

All New Uniques and Legendary Aspects in Diablo 4 Season 8

Well, it&#8217;s happened! After many seasons and much community complaining, and even some buffs, the fate of the Conduit is sealed. Well, for now at least. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Conduit to Nothing</h2>



Players have been maligning seeing a Conduit shrine basically since Season 2. Their damage simply never scaled with everything else going on in the game, as player power keeps increasing. Their gameplay also isn&#8217;t exactly thrilling, with exactly 1 button to press and, in plenty of cases, actually becoming slower. 



There are actually several layers of player frustration with them as well. Not only are they useless, they also take up a good shrine slot. So seeing one show up isn&#8217;t just a non-event, it actually makes you go &#8220;oh damn&#8230; another one&#8221;. Then there&#8217;s the accidental clicking. Even if you&#8217;re fully aware of just how bad these are, sometimes in all the chaos, you can mistakenly activate them. And that leads to some time having much less fun and being much less effective at best, and you dying really quickly at worst. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gone, but Not Forgotten</h2>



With the full <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/">Season 8</a> notes, we see Blizzard finally putting Conduit shrines out of their misery. They are removing them from the game &#8220;until further notice while reworking them.&#8221; So we might see them make a comeback, but even that is unlikely to work. We already saw Blizzard buffing them before, to no effect.

Boss Ladder



Bosses are free to summon in Season 8. Blizzard shared the following neat flowchart during the stream. It shows how players gain access to climb the Boss Ladder.

Blizzard has nerfed chain farming of Lair Bosses with targeted updates to loot tables.



Apparition Incursions

<li>They&#8217;ve rebalanced the role of the Apparition Incursions. They&#8217;ve added a Whisper Bounty to them. </li>



<li>Based on PTR feedback, they reduced Spectral Ash requirements to upgrade Boss Powers and they&#8217;ve buffed the amount of Spectral Ash dropped from Lair Bosses.</li>



<li>Apparition Incursions are there to introduce you to Boss Powers and Spectral Ash.</li>

Boss Powers



<ul>
<li>Boss Powers have been rebalanced based on PTR testing.</li>



<li>They want them to be important to your build, but not dominate your build.</li>



<li>They&#8217;ve adjusted the scaling of Boss Powers.</li>



<li>On the PTR they would scale up to Paragon Level 300. Now they are capped at Level 200.</li>



<li>Some powers have been reworked, for example, Andariel&#8217;s Flaming Skull and Urivar&#8217;s Lobbed Bombs.</li>

Diablo 4 Season 8 Campfire Chat: Highlights

Blizzard has just made big adjustments to the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lair-boss-system-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Boss system</a> ahead of Season 8&#8217;s launch, making it much easier and more rewarding to farm bosses for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uniques-from-bosses/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Uniques</a> and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uber-uniques/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mythic Uniques</a>.



As a quick refresher: <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lair-boss-system-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lair Bosses</a> are Diablo 4&#8217;s tiered endgame bosses, grouped into Initiate, Greater, and Exalted bosses. You no longer need materials to summon them, but you do need keys to unlock their hoard of rewards once they are defeated. And importantly, every player in the group needs their own keys to access the chest. That meant that for a 4-player group, you would need 4x the listed amount of keys, which makes farming rather demanding.



But now, Blizzard is easing the grind.

<li>Exalted: reduced to 2 keys (from 3)</li>

This is especially welcome for Greater and Exalted bosses, as their keys are only obtained by farming Initiate bosses. So reducing their cost directly reduces the grind!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bonus Loot</h2>



On top of the key changes, Lair Bosses now drop 7 Unique items on Torment IV, up from 6!



Overall, this update makes Lair Boss farming much more accessible, especially for groups, and hopefully more satisfying. Don&#8217;t forget Season 8 starts on April 29!
