Season 11 Updates

The Season of Divine Intervention will bring new content and systems to Diablo 4, such as:

  • Itemization Overhaul
    • Tempering and Masterworking have been reworked, and Sanctification was added as a final upgrade layer to gear. Overall, crafting and gearing become far more controlled and progression-focused this season.
  • Seasonal Systems Revamped
    • The old Seasonal Renown and zone progression are gone. Instead, you advance through the new Season Rank system by completing Capstone Dungeons and seasonal objectives.
  • Seasonal Powers – Divine Gifts
  • Lesser Evils invasions
    • Classic bosses return as world invasions (Azmodan, Duriel, Belial, and Andariel). Defeating them earns Corrupted Essences used to unlock seasonal powers.
  • Azmodan as a World Boss
  • The Tower and Leaderboards (Beta)
    • This new endgame activity will arrive later in Patch 2.5.2 (early 2026).

Season 11 Start Date

Season of Divine Intervention launches on:
December 11th, 2025, at 08:30 pm PST
December 12th at 05:30 am CET

If you are new to seasonal play, check out our introduction to the Seasonal Realm and our Season Checklist for quick tips.

New With Season 11

The Season of Divine Intervention features a new questline, new Divine Gifts, the Sanctification crafting system, new Capstone Dungeons, changes to Tempering and Masterworking, a new world boss (Azmodan), and, of course, a new set of Reliquaries.

Seasonal Questline – Ally With Hadriel

Sensing the rise of a grave new danger, Hadriel, a celestial champion acting outside the strict rules of the High Heavens, has slipped quietly into Sanctuary to stop a growing threat.

On the Seasonal Realm, head to any major city and you will notice a radiant glow. Trace that light back to its source to start your season adventure.

To begin the seasonal questline:

  • Complete the main campaign of Diablo IV.
  • Create a new character in the Seasonal Realm.
  • Head to any major city in the Seasonal Realm and go through the glowing portal.

Completing the season questline will help you earn Divine Favor and seasonal reputation, which unlocks rewards throughout the reputation track.

Seasonal Powers – Divine Gifts

Hadriel returns to Sanctuary this Season, granting powerful celestial blessings to help you in your fight against the renewed threat of the Lesser Evils. These blessings manifest as Divine Gifts, which are collectible powers that offer valuable rewards and meaningful choices depending on how you slot them.

Each Divine Gift contains three parts:

RewardCorrupted GiftPurified Gift
Activity-based bonusA negative effect that increases difficulty
• Make the associated activity more dangerous with the corrupted power enabled.
• Still grant the Gift’s Reward bonus
A positive effect that replaces the Corruption and doubles Rewards
• Remove the Corrupted downside
• Add a strong bonus effect with its purified power.
• Double the Gift’s Reward

You will find a dedicated Divine Gifts panel inside your inventory. Each Gift can be placed into one of two slot types:

  • Outer Slot → Activates the Corrupted version
  • Inner Slot → Activates the Purified version

Slotting a Gift always activates its Reward, regardless of Corrupted or Purified state.
Corrupted slots are available from the start of the Season.

Purified slots have to be unlocked through Seasonal Reputation at the following milestones:

  • Rank IV – Duriel
  • Rank VI – Andariel
  • Rank VIII – Azmodan
  • Rank X – Belial

Each Lesser Evil drops Corrupted Essence the first time you defeat them. Bring this Essence to Hadriel to unlock the two Divine Gifts tied to that boss.

You can upgrade the rank of a Gift by defeating that Lesser Evil again and slaying empowered minions linked to them. Higher ranks will improve the Gift’s Rewards.

Here are all the Divine Gifts that can be collected:

The Return of the Lesser Evils

Several core activities in the Seasonal Realm have been overtaken by the Lesser Evils, each twisting a different game mode with their own brand of corruption:

  • Duriel dominates Helltide
  • Belial infiltrates The Pit
  • Andariel corrupts the Kurast Undercity
  • Azmodan roams the open world as a powerful new World Boss

Azmodan can appear naturally as a World Boss, but he can also be summoned on demand in the region south of Zarbinzet. Three Summoning Altars are placed there; each altar infuses Azmodan with the power of one of the other three Lesser Evils.

Check out the complete guide below.

Sanctification

Sanctification is the final step in item progression for this season.

In Season 11, a spark of the High Heavens falls into mortal hands, granting you the ability to channel angelic strength directly into your gear. This power is known as Sanctification, and it represents the final, decisive step in perfecting an item.

Sanctifying a piece of gear can do several things:

  • Add a bonus Legendary power
  • Improve an existing Affix into a Greater Affix
  • Add or replace an Affix with a Sanctification Affix
  • Replace an existing Affix with a random Sanctification affix
  • Add a random amount (5-25) of bonus Quality

Because of this, Sanctification is the last upgrade an item can ever receive. Once the process is complete, the item can no longer be modified in any way.

In short: Once you Sanctify a piece of gear, it becomes “finished,” serving as the last meaningful upgrade.

Access to this celestial power depends on your difficulty. Before Torment, defeating a Lesser Evil in a mode they have corrupted, such as Helltides, grants a rare chance to Sanctify one item at the Heavenly Anvil. If you decline or miss that moment, the opportunity is lost until another divine invitation appears.

In Torment, you instead rely on Heavenly Sigils, consumable items that open the way to the Heavenly Forge. These Sigils allow you to sanctify gear whenever you choose, and they are required for all Ancestral-quality items.

Azmodan – New World Boss

Azmodan is the big bad evil of this season. He can be summoned at will, but also joins the world boss rotation, making him the fourth world boss since launch.

Azmodan challenges players with heavy battlefield control, forcing smart movement and defensive play. For more information and fight mechanics, check our dedicated boss guide below.

Capstone Dungeons

In Season 11, Capstone Dungeons have been redesigned as fixed-difficulty milestone dungeons that gate Season Rank progression from Rank 1 to 5. They do not scale with your level, so you can attempt them early if your build is strong enough.

See our Capstone guide for full details.

The Tower and Leaderboards (Beta)

Arriving later during Season 11, in Patch 2.5.2, the Tower is a fast, competitive, timed, multi-floor dungeon endgame activity that lets you compete with other players for a spot on the Leaderboards.

Inside the Tower, you will face randomized floors, fight enemies, collect orbs, and defeat a final boss, all within 10 minutes. Runs are tracked by class and group size (solo, 2‑man, 3‑man, or 4‑man) and split into Normal and Hardcore modes.

During the activity, small towers called Pylons grant temporary buffs like increased damage, faster skills, or movement boosts to help you clear floors faster.

After completing a run, your Tier, clear time, and rank are recorded on the Leaderboards. Higher Tiers or faster clears place you higher.

New Uniques and Aspects

Season 11 also brings new Uniques. This gives you a great opportunity to test new builds and find new synergies. Especially now that you can easily swap loadouts with the Armory. Please check our guide to see all the new items here:

Additionally, for more information on how to farm Uniques from bosses, we recommend visiting our respective guide below.

Other Season 11 Changes

Here are some additional changes worth mentioning:

  • Season Rank System
    • The old Renown, and its associated stat bonuses, as well as skill and paragon points, are removed from the Seasonal realm. Instead, you progress through Season Ranks by completing Capstone Dungeons and seasonal tasks. Rewards include skill points, paragon points, cosmetics, smoldering ashes, and more. This system replaces the old Season Journey.
  • Tempering
    • Instead of random affix rolls, you can now choose the exact affix you want from a recipe. No RNG-roll gamble. Each item can have only one tempered affix. However, gear will have an additional affix in some cases. Read more about the changes in our Tempering Guide.
  • Masterworking
    • Masterworking increases Quality, which improves base item stats.
At maximum Quality, you roll a Capstone bonus that boosts one affix by 50%. This affix can be rerolled (for a cost). You can find more details about all this in our Masterworking Guide.
  • Overall Gear Progression
    • Item upgrades are more controlled and structured, replacing much of the old RNG with a more deterministic path, making endgame gearing a more deliberate, long-term process.

Seasonal Rewards

Season 11 Battle Pass – Reliquaries

As with previous seasons, the Season of Divine Intervention also comes with new Reliquaries!

Reliquaries work like mini battle passes, but with way more freedom. Instead of being locked into a single track, you only unlock what you really want. Each Reliquary costs Platinum, so if you are not into a specific theme, you can skip it entirely. No more wasting rewards on cosmetics you will never use.

There are four main Reliquaries this season:

  • Divine Intervention – Free for everyone. Includes the Gildevein Mount, Brimstone Crusader Barding Mount Armor, and Celestial Iris Town Portal.
  • Weapons – 200 Platinum. Packed with weapon skins for all classes.
  • Beasts – 500 Platinum. Focused on mounts and pets.
  • Armor – 800 Platinum. Loaded with armor sets for every class.

If you want it all, there is a bundle for 1,000 Platinum that unlocks the three premium Reliquaries in one go. You have more questions? Read our full guide on how the system works:

Favor Tokens

You can earn Favor tokens for the Reliquary by playing the game, slaying monsters, and completing quests. Favor tokens basically let you unlock whichever cosmetics you want without wasting rewards.

Each Reliquary will offer you a piece of the Celestine Templar armor set as a bonus once you complete it.

You can also buy the Deluxe Battle Pass Bundle for 2,800 Platinum, which will give you access to:

  • The Celestine Templar armor set, immediately unlocks for each Class
  • Wings of the Celestine Templar Back Trophy (with reactive effects)
  • Nimbus Winged Fox Pet
  • Access to the Weapons, Beasts, and Armor Reliquaries

Season Ranks

Season Rank progression is the Seasonal equivalent of character growth: complete objectives, clear Capstones, and unlock rewards.

Just like in Diablo 3 and other similar ARPGs, seasons in Diablo 4 follow a familiar structure. Progress through chapters, fulfill various objectives, and unlock rewards to advance the season story.

The ultimate goal is to complete all 7 ranks to unlock every reward. For guidance on which objectives to prioritize to complete the Season Ranks, check out our recommendations by clicking the link below!

Completing Season 11 Ranks will reward you with various goodies such as the new pet, Alefta (entering Rank 6), a Resplendent SparkResplendent Spark (Rank 7), and gear optimized for one specific build per class.

Season Blessings and Smoldering Ashes

Another big reward from the season ranks objectives is Smoldering Ashes, a special currency used to unlock and boost Season Blessings. These blessings remain active for all your characters throughout the whole season.

Here are the Season Blessings available in Season 11: Divine Intervention:

  • Urn of Divine Favor – Increases Divine Favor gained
  • Urn of Reckoning – Elites/Champions drop more items
  • Urn of Calamity – Extra rewards from World Bosses
  • Urn of Ancestral Whispers – Higher chance for Ancestral Caches from Whispers
  • Urn of Sanctification – Chance to drop an extra Heavenly Sigil from all sources

Season 11 – Quick Overview

  • Make sure you unlock all available Divine Gifts by battling each of the Lesser Evils.
  • Check your class or build guides to see which Divine Gifts best synergize with your build and preferred skills.
  • Review Tempering and Masterworking early so you understand the new item power curve
  • Once you have secured a perfect item, it is time to Sanctify it. Head to the Heavenly Forge and apply your bonus power through Sanctification.
  • Complete your Season Rank objectives. These unlock the Skill Points and Paragon Points you will need to finish and optimize your build.
  • Run through the rebalanced Infernal Hordes and start with Fleeting Hordes while leveling. In torment difficulty, make sure to trigger the special Chaos Waves to gain more Aether and end your run with fighting Bartuc for additional rewards.
  • Run Nightmare dungeons, and pay attention to Strongroom portals. Complete the challenges to get the rewards, and potentially an Escalating Sigil. Escalating Nightmares is a great way to challenge yourself in endgame on the torment difficulty of your choice.
  • Once you are max level, increase your difficulty to Torment and fight the Lair Bosses. They will reward you with Unique loot to complete your builds, and seasonal currency used to upgrade your seasonal power.
  • Infernal Hordes and The Pit are excellent replayable endgame content for greater gear and Masterworking materials.
  • As with the previous seasons, it is likely that several builds will emerge as strong contenders for Season 11, each excelling in specific areas. Check out our respective Tier Lists for a closer look at which builds are exceptionally strong this time around.
