Boons – The Druid Specialization

Boons are additional buffs provided to the Druid class as part of their specialization. To unlock your Boons, you will need to complete a simple quest on the west side of the map in the stronghold of “Tur Dulra”. This becomes available at Level 15 and should be completed as soon as possible. The Boon mechanic allows you to pick a single buff from each of the corresponding master animals and the addition of a second Boon buff from a chosen master animal you select.

Once you are in the endgame and have completed the skill tree from the previous section, utilize the following set of Boons for the best results.

Boon NameMaster AnimalEffect
WarinessDeerTake 10% reduced damage from Elites
Avian WrathEagleGain x30% Critical Strike Damage
Swooping AttacksEagleGain +10% Attack Speed
CalamityWolfExtend the duration of Ultimate Skills by 25%
Calm Before the StormSnakeLucky Hit: Nature Magic Skills have up to a 10% chance to reduce the Cooldown of your Ultimate Skill by 2 seconds.

Staying in Grizzly RageGrizzly Rage as much as possible is critical to not only our survival, but also our damage. Two the boons listed above are going to directly support our Ultimate SkillUltimate Skill durations and Cooldown. First, we use the boon Calamity to help extend our Grizzly Rage by 25%. Next, the boon Calm Before the Storm going to constantly tick down our Grizzly Rage’s Cooldown. We also have the the benefit of FlickerstepFlickerstep to help lower our Cooldown even further. As you progress past Level 50 Nightmare Dungeons, you will benefit massively from the Fortify per second, increased Movement Speed, and being Unstoppable. These three buffs are critical to staying mobile and out of Elite’s special attacks, as well as bosses area of effect attacks.

Mechanics and Playstyle

The playstyle for the Wolf Nado build is very similar to some of our previous builds. We start by building up our Spirit using our generator Wind ShearWind Shear, the fun part to this build is its ability to self-sustain your Spirit pool. Once your Spirit is topped off activate your Cyclone ArmorCyclone Armor and Blood HowlBlood Howl, which will trigger VigilanceVigilance and keep our enemies at a distant. Next, trigger your Grizzly RageGrizzly Rage which will significantly lower your Spirit costs. Start spamming your core skill: TornadoTornado. As your Tornadoes make everything around you vulnerable and your Grizzly Rage amplifies your Critical Strike Damage with kills, your damage will quickly ramp. Be smart with your movement and avoid elite attacks.

Keep your HurricaneHurricane up as it can help to build your Spirit back up and keep enemies slowed as they press towards you. Being to add in evade dodges, aiming to go through several enemies at a time for the bonus Cooldown Reduction from FlickerstepFlickerstep. This should be keeping our Grizzly RageGrizzly Rage off Cooldown and up the majority of the time for us to keep using TornadoTornado at a low cost. Should Grizzly Rage fall off before the Cooldown, just keep to a safe position and use Blood HowlBlood Howl if you need a boost of healing.

Grizzly Rage

This skill is paramount to the build; you cannot push endgame content with an effective setup to use with your Grizzly RageGrizzly Rage. To create an effective setup for endgame, we will equip two specific aspects: Aspect of the Rampaging WerebeastAspect of the Rampaging Werebeast and Dire Wolf's AspectDire Wolf’s Aspect.

First, Dire Wolf's AspectDire Wolf’s Aspect alters the werebear only skill to be performed as a Werewolf, offering Movement Speed instead of Damage Reduction as well as a huge amount of Spirit Cost Reduction. This reduction is one of the main keys to us being able to spam TornadoTornado. Next, Aspect of the Rampaging WerebeastAspect of the Rampaging Werebeast focuses on extending the uptime for our Grizzly RageGrizzly Rage. We also benefit from our Airidah's Inexorable WillAiridah’s Inexorable Will pull effect while we use Grizzly Rage, helping to group enemies up for our Tornadoes.

Gear Choice and Stat Priority

As you begin to farm in World Tier 3 and 4, Rare and Legendary item drops will begin to appear with some regularity depending on your luck. We recommend saving the targeted Legendary items that have the needed Legendary aspects listed below. We also recommended to keep multiple copies of the build’s Aspects in your Stash for future upgrades.

As for the Rare items, you will need to inspect each one for targeted affixes for use in each specific slot and do your best to match the recommended rolls. We have listed our targeted affixes in order of importance. Check the chart below and make note of what affixes you are searching for when you see a Rare gear piece drop.

Season 2 Update (1.2.0): Critical Strike Damage and Vulnerable Damage affixes are changed to be additive with other damage increases. All additive damage increases of the same amount are equal in value, as long as their conditions are active.

Please note we have left the affix in place for Pants and Boots incase you do not yet have Tibault's WillTibault’s Will, FlickerstepFlickerstep and Airidah's Inexorable WillAiridah’s Inexorable Will.

Please note that these Affixes are the recommended picks for the blank, but that is simply our opinion. Other Affixes could certainly work instead of the ones listed above, but may not be optimal. Also, there are several very specific affixes that are required to make the build work, particularly around Spirit generation, they are as follows:

  1. Cooldown Reduction
  2. Resource Generation
  3. Spirit Cost Reduction

A final point on acquiring the right Affixes and Legendary Aspects, use your Obols to target farm them. Obols are awarded from many different activities in the game, you will always stockpiling them until you hit your maximum. Instead of just randomly spending them on a random pick, use them to target what you might be missing from this build. It is a great way to target a specific slot of loot and find what you need.

Legendary Aspects

Listed below are all the best-in-slot Aspects found on Legendary items that are important for the Tornado Werewolf Druid build. Aspects from the Codex of Power can be used if you cannot find the proper Legendary drops, but they have weaker effects. Extract Aspects from lower level Legendary items and imprint them onto better Rare items with preferred stats. The endgame itemization goal will be to imprint Aspects with the best values Ancestral Rare items with Item Power above or as close to 800, then upgrade them through the Blacksmith. Each aspect is listed with its matching gear slot. Do your best to keep each Aspect in the slot it was posted with.
